Privacy Policy
Last updated: 3 November 2026
Widepost is a Windows desktop application and this website is its home. This page explains, in plain language, what information is involved when you visit the site, use the app, or buy a licence.
1. Who we are
Widepost is an independent product operated by an individual developer ("we", "us"). For any privacy question, write to hello@widepost.dev.
2. The website
This site is a set of static pages. We do not set cookies, we do not run analytics or advertising scripts, and we do not build profiles of visitors.
Like any website, the hosting provider (Cloudflare) processes technical data such as IP address, browser type and requested URL in order to deliver the pages and protect against abuse. This is standard server logging, and we do not use it to identify individuals.
3. The desktop application
Beta version
The current beta does not require an account and does not send your usage data to us. Your records — video names, dates, platform check-ins, notes — are stored as a local file in your own Documents folder. We have no access to it and no way to read it.
Paid versions
If a paid version requires a licence, we will collect the minimum needed to operate it: the email address you use at checkout, and a licence key linked to it. We will not collect the content of your records.
4. Purchases and payment data
Paid licences are sold through Paddle.com, which acts as the Merchant of Record. That means Paddle is the seller of record for your order and handles payment processing, invoicing and applicable taxes.
- Card details and other payment credentials are entered on Paddle's checkout and are never sent to us. We do not see them and do not store them.
- We receive order information such as the product purchased, the amount, the country, and the email address used for the order — enough to deliver and support your licence.
- Paddle's own privacy practices are described in Paddle's privacy policy, which applies to the checkout process.
5. Service providers
We rely on a small number of providers to run this product:
- Cloudflare — website hosting and content delivery.
- Paddle.com — checkout, payments, invoicing, tax, refunds.
- GitHub — distribution of the installer and issue tracking.
We do not sell, rent or trade personal information to anyone.
6. Support messages
If you email us, we keep the message and your email address for as long as needed to resolve the issue, and afterwards only as long as required for accounting or legal obligations.
7. How long we keep things
Order and licence records are kept while your licence is active and for the period required by tax and accounting rules. Support correspondence is deleted when it is no longer needed.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected, to have it deleted, or to receive a copy. Write to hello@widepost.dev and we will respond within 30 days. If your request concerns a purchase, we may need to coordinate with Paddle, since Paddle holds the transaction records.
9. Children
Widepost is a tool for professional and hobby creators. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.
10. International transfers
Our providers operate globally, so data may be processed outside your country. Where required, transfers rely on the standard contractual safeguards used by those providers.
11. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page changes with it. Material changes affecting existing licence holders will be announced on this site.
